The Citroen C3 Picasso is Citroen's way of making the C3 even more versatile. This mini MPV would be in competition with the likes of the Opel Meriva, the KIA Venga and even the Ford B-Max. It has a high roof, enough room for five people and good boot area. It makes for a good compact family vehicle.
The C3 Picasso is available with a 3-cylinder 1.2 litre turbocharged engine offering 100 bhp. The other option is an efficient 1.6 litre BlueHDi setup offering 100bhp. Unfortunately, there is not an automatic option for this car, and the gears on offer come from a 5-speed box. The petrol offering is the one to go for if your mileage is suited to it because it is very economical.
Citroen's brilliant suspension comes into its own in this vehicle. It soaks up bumps beautifully, and while it's a bit bouncy, it is certainly comfortable. There is some body roll on corners, but the steering is light in cities and it gets heavier the quicker you drive.
In terms of refinement, the C3 Picasso does suffer a bit from road and tyre noise, especially when cruising on the motorway. The engine can also be heard while accelerating to that 120km/h on the motorway. The gearbox is ever-so-slightly clunky too.
Citroen makes a good and airy interior and the C3 Picasso benefits from some quality items. The steering wheel and driver's seat is easily adjusted and visibility is good around the car. For extra comfort you should opt for one with a centre armrest. Unfortunately, the infotainment system is basic enough, but this car has been on the go since 2009.
This car only scored 4 stars in the Euro NCAP. It received a score of 81% for adult occupancy, 76% for child safety, 43% for pedestrian safety and 40% for safety assistance features. It does have airbags for front and rear passengers and it also comes with ISOFIX to the rear.
The boot in this vehicle is very good and there is no major issue with leg or head room to the front or to the rear.
