Well, you look at these buses on the road and you know they are a very desirebale car. Normally the preserve of the Yummies, I have actually got my mits on the steering wheel a few times, and to be honest its a very "nice" car to drive. Its an SUV, an Image Statement, and a Tank. However if you have a small army of children nothing can touch this car for families. It is incredibly practical car. Driving takes a bit of getting used to. It's an easy car to drive but you do get flung around in it a lot. The seats could do with more lateral support, and whenever our kids are in the rearmost seats you have to take it easy going around corners as they really get thrown around. However they love the car and won't go in our other one (mine)any more. As I was saying when you get used to the driving characteristics of it, it is an extremely comfortable car. It glides along. (Some diehard petrolheads say it floats) We drove 300 miles with a load of gear and 6 passengers in a lot of comfort. The boot even with the rear seats in use can actually hold a lot if you are clever in the way you pack. We have the 2.5T petrol. It has good mid-range but then runs out of grunt. I.e if you are doing 70 and you need to pass something out even when you floor it don't expect much. So my verdict is - if you have the need for 7 seats - or 6 and nowadays with shared school runs if you have 2 or more kids you will need a 6/7 seater, this is a must-have. Buy an 04 XC90 rather than the new Hyundai Santa FE. The Santa Fe is a good looking car but lacks a crucial stabilisation gizmo that prevents it toppling over in extreme toppling over causing circumstances. Plus its not a Volvo.
