Skoda releases details on all-new Skoda Karoq

Skoda Ireland releases prices and spec for the brand-new Skoda Karoq

We’ve been anxiously awaiting a drive in the new Skoda Karoq and as of this afternoon, we are closer to having an Irish drive of the new Yeti replacement. Skoda Ireland has announced that the Karoq will be priced from €27,715.

Skoda Ireland has opted to start the range from the second level trim, which explains why the price does not start for less. This price tag comes with a 1.5 TSI petrol engine which debuts in this car.

This is the new little brother of the very successful Skoda Kodiaq. From our brief meetings with the new Karoq, internal space is good, and the optional Vario-Flex seats are certainly worth a look if you feel that you might be using the Karoq to ship more than people around. These seats can be adjusted forward and back, folded or completely removed. When the seats are taken out, the Karoq pretty much turns into a van. With the seats in place, the Skoda Karoq offers 521-litres of boot space.

This new SUV is longer and wider than the Yeti, but according to Skoda, the Karoq is 13kg lighter than its predecessor. It’s also better equipped in terms of driver-assistance systems. This car is available with full LED headlights and it will be the first Skoda to feature a digital instrument panel.

Four engines will be available with the Karoq and they range from 116hp to 150hp. There will also be a 4x4 version. The entry-level “Ambition” trim comes with 17” Ratikon alloys, 8” touch screen Bolero radio, 2-zone Climatronic air-conditioning, rear parking sensors, Smart Link+ and chrome roof rails and window surrounds. The next level, “Style” offers 18” alloys, a larger touch screen, rear-view camera, DAB and keyless entry.

Mark Mulvaney, PR Manager at ŠKODA Ireland, said: “After the huge success of the KODIAQ our SUV journey continues with the arrival of the KAROQ. This is a hugely important vehicle for us moving into 2018 and one that we see taking ŠKODA’s SUV range to the next level. Irish customers can expect to see the KAROQ in dealer showrooms later this winter in time to order for January 2018.”

Hi. Realise that 1.5 petrol has ACT deactivation technology. Is there a hybrid version in the offing soon, in Ireland.?
