Here at Car Buyers Guide we love compiling lists. There’s something about pitting a certain car against the rest in its class and seeing what comes out on top that’s really exciting. So for this week we’ve decided to give you our choice for the Top 5 most powerful hatchbacks on the market right now.
So, without further ado, in at number five is the Honda Civic Type R. The Civic Type R set five new benchmarks for front wheel drive production cars across some of Europe’s best known tracks just this month. Find out more about that here. It has 310hp and a top speed of 270km/h.
Just on front of the Civic, with 320hp is the BMW M135i. It can go from 0-100km/h in 5.1 seconds. Although its top speed is slightly less than the Civic Type R at 250km/h, it out performances it based on pure power.
At number three we have the Ford Focus RS. It boasts 350hp, is the world’s first production car to include a drift driving mode and is rally driver Ken Block’s weapon of choice.
Coming in second place is the Audi RS3. This hatchback can manage a top speed of 280km/h from its massive 367hp output.
And now the big reveal. Well not really, of course the number one spot goes to the Mercedes AMG A45 for our list of the most powerful hatchbacks. This car packs a monstrous 381hp and can hit 100km/h in just 4.2 seconds. It has an electronically limited top speed of 270km/h, but we suspect that it could manage much more…
