The Car Buyers Guide Master Mechanic, Paul Dagg, shows us what to look for when buying a used car.
The used car market has always been large in Ireland. Obviously, it is harder to be sure that you're buying a reliable machine when you buy second hand. Paul Dagg's top tips on buying a used car should help steer you in the right direction. In this video, we look at what to look for in and around the body of a car. Paul also offers some tips on what to look for on the interior of a car.
He tells us to look at the steering wheel, the pedal and the gear stick for normal wear and tear - make sure that they look like the mileage that the car suggests. Do the buttons and switches work? Start with the electric windows. Lower the window all the way down and up - if you hear a clicking noise, the window might need a new regulator - which can be expensive. Operate the lights, wipers and horn - make sure it all works. Use the fan, can you hear all of the speeds working individually? Put on the air con and open the vents, can you feel it chilled?
