This is the Car Buyers Guide BMW 5 Series Touring Review 2017. Last week, Daragh Ó Tuama travelled from Ireland to Hampshire in the UK to test drive the estate version of the new 5 Series. He only got to spend a couple of hours with this particular car - it was long enough to form some first impressions. The 5 Series Touring has proven to be popular for BMW over the years, and despite the fact that a lot of the market is shifting towards SUV cars, there is a lot to be said about the estates which are still available.
The 5 Series Touring should be in Ireland very soon. Prices start from €56,590 for the BMW 520d Touring. We drove both the 520d Touring and the 530d Touring at the UK launch of the vehicle.
The new 5 Series Touring is 36mm longer, 8mm wider and 10mm taller than the outgoing model. The headlights now extned as far as the BMW kidney grille - which now houses BMW's active air flap control.
On-paper we are told that this car (in the BMW 520d Touring form) will bring you from 0-100km/h in just 7.8 seconds. The 530d xDrive covers the same distance in 5.6 seconds.
