This is the new 2017 KIA Picanto review and first impressions by the Car Buyers Guide Team. We're told that the new Kia Picanto will arrive in Ireland at the start of May 2017. The new car has an impressive new face, has a slightly longer wheel base, and a much improved interior.
Daragh Ó Tuama tested two engines at the international launch in Barcelona, the 1.0 and the 1.25 naturally aspirated petrol engines. These both come with 5-speed manual transmissions and the Irish market will also receive a 1.25 litre KIA Picanto with a 4-speed automatic transmission (unfortunately, we didn't get to drive this at the international launch).
The big news is that the new 2017 KIA Picanto will also be available with a 1.0-litre turbo engine. Unfortunately it is not ready yet for the market, but KIA Ireland has assured us that it will arrive in Ireland during the last quarter of 2017.
The 1.0-litre 66hp engine, as well as the 1.25-litre engine are both gutsy and nippy on flat roads. However, you will feel a struggle when climbing mountain or hilly roads.
