It’s not that often that I get to test drive vans, but it is an experience which I enjoy. This week I test drove the new car van from Hyundai, the i30 i-Pro.
The i30 i-Pro is a very stylish looking van which follows in the footsteps of the i30 Hatchback Passenger. This sporty looking van has been sculpted brilliantly with curves in all the right places. Featuring LED daytime running lights at the front, a great grill and bumper, the i30 i-Pro is a bit of a head turner.
Inside this Hyundai has a very spacious cabin to the front with everything you need accessible from the centre console and/or the steering wheel. For driver comfort this van comes with voice activated Bluetooth, a leather steering wheel, cruise control and auxiliary ports as standard.
Allowing a payload of 515kg and with a towing capacity of 1300kg braked/650 unbraked the Hyundai i30 i-Pro is a work horse.
To drive the steering is brilliantly responsive and my test route left me extremely impressed by the handling. This commercial vehicle is powered by a 1.4 litre 90bhp/220Nm torque diesel engine and has a nice bit of get up and go when you put the foot down on a motorway.
On the downside I received this vehicle during one of the hottest weeks of the year and the lack of air conditioning left me a little hot and bothered. Considering that this Summers glorious sun is utterly unusual I will actually forgive them for the lack of air conditioning (then again people pay enough for these machines and maybe have the right to expect something so commonly available as standard).
In terms of price you will be looking at paying €14,197 (price quoted excludes vat and delivery and related charges). The i30 i-Pro Car-Van comes standard with 3 Years/ 100,000km Warranty and 3 Years AA Membership.
